Show students how a twister works by creating their very own twisters in bottles.  This project takes approximately 30 minutes.

Materials Needed:

  • A bottle with a lid -- a see-through plastic water bottle, a baby food jar, a see-through plastic medicine container, a plastic pop bottle, etc.
  • Water
  • a teaspoon of salt
  • two drops of dish washing liquid

Optional:

  • two drops of food coloring
  • glitter

Directions:

  1. Fill the bottle with water to one inch from top.
  2. Add the teaspoon of salt and shake the bottle until dissolved.
  3. Add the drops of dish washing  detergent.
  4. Add optional ingredients if desired.
  5. Put lid on tightly and swirl the bottle in a circular motion.
